Physical Features: -There are approximately 500 rivers in panama. About one third of them flow into the Atlantic & the other two thirds of them flow into the Pacific. These rivers flow from each side of the coastline. -The panama canal would not have been able to be built if it weren't for the Chargers River. -Panama only has one lake, Gatun Lake. This lake is not natural & was man made because of the Panama Canal. -The ocean tides of Panama rise & fall at totally different times in the Pacific & Atlantic. They also rise & fall at totally different intervals. -The dominant feature of the country's land form is the central thing of mountains and hills that forms the continental divide. -The Rio Chepo & Rio Charges are sources of hydroelectric power.
-Panama's tropical environment supports an abundance of plants. Forests dominate and interrupt in places by grasslands, scrub, and crops.
-Tree coverage has been reduced by more than 50 percent since the 1940s.
